Host a Community Screening

Thank you for choosing to host a screening of a Media Stockade film!

This guide will help you organise a smooth and successful event, whether it’s for your school, organisation, charity, or community.

Changing the world, a community screening at a time.

Your Step-by-Step Guide

  • 1. Plan Your Event

Choose a Venue: Anywhere with a projector and speakers works: cinemas, schools, community halls, boardrooms.

Pick a Date (Allow 6 Weeks to Plan): Give yourself enough time to organise, promote, and test equipment.

Build a Team: Even a small team can help with publicity, tech support, catering, or running the event.

Set Up Ticketing: Use platforms like Eventbrite, Floktu, or TryBooking.

Create a Run Sheet: List event timings: arrival, film start time, Q&A if you plan one.

  • 2. Promote Your Screening

Social Media: Create a Facebook event, post on Instagram (tag @mediastockade), and share updates regularly.

Marketing Materials: Use the templates we provide posters, postcards, email invites.

Press Outreach: Send a short press release to local newspapers and radio. Follow up by phone.

Word of Mouth: Encourage your network to invite friends and family!

  • 3. Get the Tech Right

Test Early and visit the venue weeks before to check:
    - Projector quality
    - Sound clarity
    - Screen visibility from all seats
    - Subtitle readability

    Equipment Checklist:
    - Microphone for Q&A (if needed)
    - Darkened room
    - Proper seating arrangement

    Play the Film in Full:
    - Test scenes from start, middle, and end.

What People Are Saying

A film screening was the perfect fit for The House That Dan Built—it connected our community, attracted new supporters, and became a powerful fundraising success. Most importantly, it sparked meaningful conversations among girls and women with their families, creating space for reflection and dialogue.”

— Danielle O'Keefe, CEO

Organising a screening of Mozart's Sister was a terrific way to bring our Loreto community together and showcase some incredible women leaders our school has fostered, while enjoying a really fun evening!

— Celia Sheldon, Loreto Kirribilli Exstudents Union President
