Media Stockade and Run Wild Pictures announce Aftermath
Media Stockade and Run Wild Pictures, in association with WeirAnderson Films, today released the official trailer for Aftermath, a feature documentary directed by Jared Nicholson and Ben Lawrence and produced by Rebecca Barry (SPA) and Scott Baskett, with Chris Kamen as co-producer, and Deanne Weir and Madeleine Hetherton-Miau as Executive Producers. The film will hold its world premiere at the Adelaide Film Festival (14–25 October 2026), ahead of a national theatrical release.

Aftermath follows Port Arthur massacre survivor Wendy Scurr and filmmaker Jared Nicholson as an unlikely bond forms between them. What begins as a portrait of survival becomes something more entangled: as Jared documents Wendy's decades-long search for answers, he is drawn into the same web of misinformation that has shaped her life since that tragic day. Spanning decades of archive, late-night phone calls and intimate confession, Aftermath is part testimony, part psychological thriller — a fearless account of what happens when trauma, memory and conspiracy intertwine. Rather than focusing on the events of 28 April 1996, the filmmakers unpack the lifelong aftermath for one of its survivors, and to the filmmaker's own vulnerability to the same conspiratorial pull he set out to examine.
Following its Adelaide premiere, Aftermath will screen in cinemas across Australia and New Zealand through distributor Bonsai Films. International rights are being handled by Rebecca Barry at Media Stockade, with sales discussions currently underway.
The film was produced and filmed in South Australia with the support of Screen Australia, the Adelaide Film Festival Investment Fund, Screen NSW, the South Australian Film Corporation and the Shark Island Foundation.
